YOUNG people who put in that extra bit of effort for their community could be rewarded for their hard work with a special award from Bradford on Avon Women's Institute.
Each year a young person from the local community is presented with the WI Diamond Jubilee Award and the group is looking for nominations for the silver salver winner for 2004.
Last year's winner, Annette Purshouse, was rewarded after helping out with the town Brownie pack and setting up a cheerleading club at St Laurence School.
WI president Barbara Green said: "We hear so much that is negative about our young people who seem to receive a great deal of bad publicity.
"Yet we know that there must be so many who contribute a great deal to society, and in particular to their local community, whose efforts remain unsung.
"We are endeavouring to find such a youngster who we can reward for his or her efforts and achievements."
Previous winners have been members of the Scouts and Guides, and St John Ambulance, as well as individuals still at school and serving in the community in their spare time.
Anyone nominated for the award must be in full-time education and resident in the Bradford area.
For a nomination form call Mrs Green on (01225) 862436.
Nominations must be submitted by May 28.
