THE Hawthorn Medical Centre in Swindon is holding an open evening on Wednesday, April 28.
Called the Healthy Heart Evening, the event is for all patients, staff and friends of the medical centre on May Close, off Cricklade Road.
The event at 7pm will offer the chance to meet others over cheese, wine and soft drinks before the evening begins.
There will be a talk by Dr Naga Kilaru, a local GP and a doctor at the Wiltshire Coronary Care Centre at the Great Western Hospital, on heart disease and its prevention.
There will also be an opportunity for people to have their cholesterol level checked and their personal risk of heart disease assessed on an informal basis.
The meeting will not offer individual medical advice to patients, or offer treatment, and those patients concerned about personal health matters should make an appointment with their GP.
Patients who plan to attend the event should let the reception desk know either by calling in or telephoning on 01793 536541.
