HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised for a Bath cancer support group after more than 100 people took part in a 10km fun run in Trowbridge.
Organised by Trowbridge Lions, the 10km run at Southwick Country Park attracted an international field.
Thijs Feuth, a Dutchman on holiday in Wiltshire, secured first place, clocking one of the fastest times ever recorded in the history of the event.
Most of the runners were sponsored for the race, with proceeds going towards a Trowbridge-based support group, which raises money for the Royal United Hospital's cancer unit in Bath.
Lions president Jim Kemp said the 10km run, held on April 4, was a storming success.
"It is the second year running we have held it at the country park.
"The ground was a bit soft but the winner finished in just over 36 minutes," he said.
"The runners really enjoyed the course as it includes a few hills.
"Money is still coming in and we will present a cheque to the cancer unit when we have collected it all in."
Pork Farm Bowyers sponsored this year's run, with some of the money raised going towards the Lions Club.
