PRESSURE is mounting on highway officials to change the layout of a crossroads near Trowbridge after a triple fatal smash last week.
Three members of the same family were killed when their Rover car turned into the path of an oncoming 38-tonne lorry at Stoney Gutter crossroads on the A350 last Tuesday.
West Wiltshire District councillor Virginia Fortescue, who lives in nearby Steeple Ashton, said she had experienced the danger first-hand.
"I was trying to turn right into Paxcroft and I was flashed by a motorist letting me turn, but I was frightened by the speed of traffic coming up behind him," she said. "I am trying very, very hard to get officers to look at putting in filter lights."
West Ashton road safety campaigner Liam Silcocks said: "I think a roundabout should be given some serious consideration."
A spokesman for Wiltshire County Council, said: "We will be looking at the Stoney Gutter crossroads as part of the ongoing work to assess sites across the county where there have been accidents to see what, if any, improvements can be made."
l There was another accident at the Stoney Gutter crossroads on Wednesday evening at around 7pm, when two cars collided. No-one was injured.
