Trout fishermen have continued to enjoy their sport on the Bristol Water fisheries despite some cold north east winds.
It was another excellent week at Blagdon where over 1,000 fish were taken, with a rod average of just under four fish.
The best fish of the week was a prime 6lb 8oz rainbow taken from a boat. Best areas have been Green lawn, Rainbow Point, Ash Trees and Orchard Bay.
At Chew the Wick Green area has continued to be the favourite place for both boat and bank anglers, although Herons Green has seen much improved catches from boats.
Top story of the week is a visit by Phil Rippon and Dave Ross from Newcastle who flew to Chew on a cheap flight and had a great day's fishing catching and returning well over their limit.
To cap the day out Rippon took the best fish of the season to date with a beautiful 8lb rainbow on a small black Classic FM.
Despite windy conditions sport was again top class on the Wessex Water trout fisheries.
Clatworthy produced a total catch of 363 fish with an unconfirmed brown of 7lb topping the catches.
At Hawkridge the fishing was excellent with 445 fish recorded. Fish were mainly taken on lures on the bottom.
Brian Champion had a great day with an excellent rainbow weighing 8lb 13oz. Sutton Bingham again produced good sport with 607 fish taken with several limit bags of over 12lb. Ivor Gay took a fine five fish limit of 19lb 8oz, topped by a nice rainbow of 6lb.
