RESPONSIBLE pet owners in Swindon love to treat their pets more than anywhere else in the country, according to a local store.
The Pets At Home branch in Stratton sold almost 380 eggs made with specially formulated "dog chocolate" in the run up to Easter more than double the national average of 125.
Manager Mike Notman said: "Swindon owners obviously like to spoil their pets.
"We all like to treat ourselves at Easter and it is nice to know our pets are included.
"I just hope they went out for a long walk and worked off all the calories."
He said ordinary chocolate contains a chemical that is toxic for dogs and not healthy for cats.
The chocolate loved by humans is made from cocoa beans and contains a chemical called theobromine which, in high concentrations, can affect a dog's heart, lungs and central nervous system.
