WITH breathtaking audacity the Lib Dem news sheet carries the following headlines: 'Council tax rises above inflation' and'Inflation busting 7.3 per cent council tax rise.'
This one per cent increase to the ruling administration budgets was as a direct result of Lib Dem support for the 7.3 per cent budget proposed by Coun Kevin Small.
The news sheet continues: "The successful budget this year has saved community groups," which is incorrect, as the budget presented by Coun Bawden precluded any cuts, the council having received a tax rebate of £1m.
Hopefully Lib Dem representation will be severely dented by taxpayers at the forthcoming local elections.
