MAY 2 & 3, FARLEIGH HUNGERFORD: Visit Farleigh Hungerford Castle over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend and you will be forgiven for thinking that you've stepped back in time.

English Heritage is hosting two days of medieval music and games set against the backdrop of the magnificent 14th Century castle on Sunday and Monday, from 11am to 5pm.

The events will provide family days out with a difference, and give people the chance to experience at first hand many aspects of medieval life. The weekend will feature authentic games and pastimes looking at how people enjoyed their leisure time seven hundred years ago. The games range from the ancestor of 10-pin bowling and Nine Men,s Morris to a form of medieval soccer. There will also be a comedy theatre and medieval music.

Beth Kavanagh, English Heritage,s Head of Visitor Operations for the castle, comments, "Farleigh Hungerford is a fascinating site with seven hundred years of history associated with it. The two days of medieval events and family fun will give people a real insight into what life was like during the medieval period. Furthermore, following major conservation work, the chapel containing an extremely rare wall painting of St George on foot, slaying the dragon, is now open."

This event provides yet another reason to visit Farleigh Hungerford Castle, which is set on the border of Somerset and Wiltshire, nine miles south east of Bath.
