AN elderly woman is believed to be the latest victim of a vandal plaguing Pewsey Vale villages with a high powered catapult or similar weapon.
The woman in her 70s, who lives in Court Farm Close in Netheravon, found a hole in one of her windows when she woke up on Sunday morning.
The missile that created the hole shattered the outer pane of double glazing but luckily, said police, did not penetrate the inner pane.
The woman initially thought the damage was caused by a gun. Forensic tests will be carried out to try to establish what kind of missile caused the damage.
Police said they were concerned that someone could be hurt by flying glass if the episode of incidents continues.
Over the past few months there have been numerous reports of damage to windows and properties from steel ball bearings fired, officers believe, from a high power catapult.
Garages and other business and private homes in the Upavon and Netheravon areas have been targeted.
Police have appealed for any information about the spate of incidents or for details of who may be carrying it out.
Any information should be forwarded to Pewsey police station (01672) 562222 for the attention of PC Michelle Haley.
