PEWSEY parish councillors are considering making a wall in the village centre available for graffiti. The idea was put forward at Tuesday's parish council meeting by Coun Marilyn Day, chairman of the Pewsey Area Community Trust.
The council had written to the Wilts and Dorset bus company pointing out that a wall at the bus station at Rectory Grove and belonging to the company had been subject to graffiti attacks.
Coun Colin Lampard said: "If you just paint the wall you will be encouraging even more graffiti."
Coun Day said: "Why don't we have a graffiti competition and turn the wall into a work of art?"
Coun Diane Hughes suggested councillors ask The Shak (the Pewsey youth centre) to organise a competition.
Coun Lampard said it would be a waste of public money to have the wall painted only for it to be subjected, as it was sure to be, to further graffiti. He said: "Let's go along with Marilyn Day's suggestion."
The council agreed to put the idea to the bus company and, if it is willing, to ask for Shak's support.
