FOUR players, including Corsham's Dave Hopkins, were sent off as this derby game ended in controversy.

Larkhall's Jim McLay, Terry Wade and Simon Gilbert were all sent off along with Hopkins were all red carded after a scuffle late in the game.

The referee was dealing with a Corsham free-kick when a scuffle broke out and the referee brandished the cards on the instruction of one of his assistants.

Corsham boss Colin Bush said: "We don't like games to finish like that but it was a terrific game on a difficult pitch," he said.

"The red cards are not nice but both team's commitment and passion made it a proper derby.

"I felt four players having to leave the park was unnecessarily in the context of it all. The game was passionate but not dirty.

"I felt Dave was the victim of it all but we'll have to wait and see what the linesman says in his report."

Corsham got off to a flier when Alan Griffin headed home from a Frankie Coleman corner in the second minute.

Griffin was denied after a strong run and shot but Coleman followed in to score and then from another corner Dave Kilmurray headed home.

After the restart Larkhall pulled a goal back with Corsham's claims that Hopkins had been fouled in the build-up waved away.

The visitors did not take long to hit back when Kilmurray lobbed home his second of the game. But Larkhall had the final word when Geo Sperti skewed the ball into his own net.
