12820/2GAZETTE & HERALD: CALNE author Keith Hopwood has been promoting his latest book recounting his adventures as a young engineer in Africa.
Mr Hopwood, 70, of Alma Terrace, signed copies of the first of his trilogy, Alistair's World, in the library on Tuesday.
Entitled Tales About Africa, it traces his life and experience between 1956 and 1973. Mr Hopwood has illustrated the book with his own watercolour paintings and photographs of himself.
He taught mathematics at the RAF camp in Yatesbury before seeing action in the Korean War.
He said: "The book is about what it was like in those days. I have a big tale to tell," he said.
He hopes to write two more covering his adventures in the Middle East and in Latin America.
