THE Rising Sun has re-opened for a second time in the space of seven days. The pub, in Southbroom Road, Devizes, was forced to close on its opening night on Easter Saturday when water flooded through the ceiling.
The problem came as the pub was nearing the end of its opening night which 200 people had attended.
Repairs were carried out to the header tank, the plumbing, the electrics and the ceiling and the pub re-opened without a hitch on Friday.
The pub, formerly Munnelly's, had been standing empty since last July when previous tenant Bill Montgomery resigned.
Brian Foster, the landlord of The Rising Sun, said: "We opened as we had expected to do on Friday and the response from customers has been great.
"We didn't have as many people there as the previous opening night but the atmosphere was good.
"The pub looks fantastic and it's the nicest pub in town. Customers are amazed at the place.
"The opening night at Easter was a nightmare but now everything's been sorted out and fingers crossed, away we go."
The pub is a sports bar with television screens showing live sporting events.
It has a late licence for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings when it has a DJ playing music.
Mr Foster, who also owns Devizes Snooker Club in Station Road, has invested £30,000 on redecorating the pub while the owner Punch Taverns has spent £130,000.
