BUSINESSMAN Bill Montgomery who ran Billy's Gym and Tonic in Devizes Market Place, said he is still committed to re-opening the gym elsewhere in the town.
The gym, above the One-Stop Shop, closed suddenly in February following the expiry of the lease and members have become increasingly frustrated at the lack of progress.
Mr Montgomery said he has made a proposal to Devizes Town Football Club to relocate there and is also looking at other premises.
"I am also in discussion with an established leisure organisation which is very keen to expand and wants to join forces in a partnership. Obviously the gym was a very popular venue and the support of this major partner will ensure the future of the facility for Devizes. Together we have other suitable venues that are currently being looked into."
He said: "I want to get the gym open again as soon as possible, I have no intention of abandoning it. I have invested £100,000 in it."
In a letter to members he said when the gym reopens memberships would be extended. He also said members would be entitled to refunds. Phil Rossiter, of Devizes Town Football Club, said the committee would be discussing the gym proposal at a meeting shortly.
