Ref. 30029-23YOUNG pianist Jemima Palfreyman may be just 14 but she is hitting the right note with regulars at a Swindon pub.
The teenager from Green Lane, Upper Stratton, is fast becoming centre of attention at The Rat Trap pub after landlord Mark Richardson gave her a weekly two-hour slot.
Each Saturday evening she accompanies her parents to the Highworth Road pub where she belts out classics ranging from Beethoven to The Beatles to Robbie Williams, although she doesn't sing along.
Jemima, who also plays the tuba, was last year crowned Swindon Rotary Club's Young Musician Of The Year.
She said: "It would be brilliant to be in a professional orchestra but teaching would be great too."
She doesn't suffer from stage fright. "I just do my best," she said. "Luckily it's quite noisy in there and nobody tends to notice if I make a mistake."
Proud mum Bridget, 41, says Jemima showed musical promise from an early age.
"When she was a baby she used to plonk away at a little keyboard for hours," she said.
"We love her playing at the pub because it gives us a night out too."
Landlord Mark said: "We love live music and it's terrific to have someone so young and enthusiastic. It gives the pub a fantastic atmosphere."
