TOPSEY Tooth and Dan Decay paid a visit to Dilton Marsh School on Wednesday to help pupils brush up on their dental hygiene.
The pair were joined by fellow puppets Sweetie Sue, Mr Dentist and Tony the Toothbrush for the show organised by Wiltshire's oral health promotion team.
Youngsters in the reception class and Years 1 and 2 saw the puppets act out a scenario where Topsey had gone to school without cleaning her teeth. Through the show and activities in their classes they were encouraged to brush their teeth regularly and warned of the dangers of not doing so.
Oral health promoter Sue Maule said: "Besides the puppet show we showed them examples of good food and bad food. We also showed them what clothes dentists wear so they know what to expect when they go.
"We found the children really, really enjoyed it and the teachers seemed to be really pleased."
All pupils got to design their own paper puppets, which they could take home as a reminder, along with a leaflet for their parents.
Reception class teacher Sheila Martinelli said: "I think it is fantastic. It is exactly what we need.
"The children were interested, enthusiastic and excited. They will all go home with a puppet and it will make a real difference."
The team are now visiting schools across west Wiltshire and next week will be calling into Westbury Infants School.
