THE chairman of Westbury Boys FC makes an appeal for new sports facilities for Westbury and seems to be repeating the points made three or four years ago when this suggestion first surfaced.
We would all like more new facilities but not at the expense of the destruction of what we have, playing fields should be conveniently placed, not in the rural buffer and out of sight of parents.
When this idea was first suggested the town council set up a working group to look at the facilities.
They asked for a report from the developer as to the suitability of the land.
Over a year later the developers, Persimmon, came up with a report which had several pages missing, ie the cost to provide this facility and more importantly the cost to sustain and maintain the facility for the first three years.
Possibly the chair of Westbury Boys FC could advise us all of the cost to maintain the new playing fields.
