BOXES of fresh organic vegetables will be coming door-to-door in Swindon next month.
Joanne Brodribb and her partner Richard Prosser gave up jobs in administration and finance to begin delivering organic vegetables in and around Swindon.
They are the new representatives for the Riverford Organic Vegetables box scheme, which started in 1993 making deliveries to just 30 customers. It now delivers to about 10,000 homes in the south west, but not, so far, in Swindon.
Joanne said: "We have been customers of the box scheme as we live just on the border of the local distributor in the Bristol area.
"Richard and I saw the opportunity to become distributors in the Swindon area and couldn't wait to get started."
The Riverford scheme allows vegetables to be sold directly from the farm in Buckfastleigh, Devon, with most produce picked one day and packed the next.
The box scheme started with shops being used as collection points and has grown through a network of distributors.
Joanne and Richard, who live in Frampton Cotterell near Bristol, will start deliveries in the middle of May, in time for fresh produce, from locally grown artichokes to new potatoes.
