PEOPLE who do not return library books could face prosecutions under a crackdown by Wiltshire County Council.
Over the past three months the council has prosecuted 10 people who have failed to return books.
They were each fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 in costs by magistrates. They were also ordered to pay the council a total of £881.05 to cover the cost of the stock that has not been returned and library fines that have been incurred.
The council will give library users numerous warnings and legal action is only taken as a last resort.
