DEREK Graham admitted he felt he has let his Westbury side down this season as their miserable run continues with an exit from the quarter final of the Hospital Cup.

Wednesday night's defeat was just the latest in a long line of disappointments, as Westbury have gone from being promotion contenders to a side with nothing to play for.

The united boss points to the loss of his two main strikers, Wayne Wheeler and Toby Colbourne, as the turning point but believes he should have done more to halt the slide.

He said: "I should have changed the way we played the moment we lost our goalscorers. We have always played with three up front but it didn't work without Toby and Wayne.

"I should have played a bit more defensively but I don't like being negative. I regret it now.

"The problem is we have had to stick Jerad O'Pray right up front and he likes playing a bit deeper so in way we have lost three players."

Westbury started brightly on Wednesday and could have been three goals up within seven minutes, but Mark Pearce twice, and Wayne Wheeler were denied by James Domm in Bemerton's goal.

At the other end the visitors scored against the run of play when James Boswell's bullet header flew past Mark Batters.

The lead was shortlived as Wheeler's pacy cross was turned past Domm by Pearce on 18 minutes.

Bemerton regained the lead in fortuitous fashion on the half hour when Neil Cook's shot was well saved by Batters but from the rebound the ball was turned into his own net by Russell Fishlock.

Stuart Findlay then struck twice in two minutes on the stroke of half time to give Bemerton a commanding lead.

United improved after the break but two goal line clearances by Adam Nash and a good save from Domm meant Wheeler's late strike was their only reward.
