A LEAKY church roof could be fixed after a concert was held to plug the funding gap. Over 165 people turned up at the All Saints Church in Chitterne on Friday for a organ and classical music concert.
Visitors donated over £3,500, which will go towards repairs to the leaky south aisle roof.
Arthur Gooch, treasurer at All Saints Church, said: "The roof will cost up to £15,000 and we have a lot already but this concert was a huge boost.
"We raised money to fix the north aisle roof but as soon as that was repaired the south aisle roof started leaking.
"It depends on the direction of the wind and the rain but sometimes we have to move seats and get the buckets out."
Playing at the concert was chorister Christopher Watts, a former village resident, and 17-year-old Chitterne student Rosanna Major.
The north aisle roof was fixed earlier this year and All Saints Church will be holding more fundraising events this year.
