I AM increasingly dismayed about the way that the residents of Walwayne Court and Broadmead estates are being treated.
A month or two back, Bowyers wanted to divert the Innox Road public footpath and now Tesco wants to shut our post office.
Bowyers' plans would make it longer, more difficult and dangerous to walk into Trowbridge and Tesco's plans will cause more of us to have to do this, as the nearest post office will then be the main one on the other side of the town centre. The effect of removing our post office will be threefold.
Firstly, pedestrians will have to carry their parcels etc much further (about three quarters of an hour round trip).
Secondly those with limited mobility will be stuck and thirdly, many people with children, who only have one car, will have to wait until Saturday morning for their partners to take them in, meaning that the main post office will be even more crammed than it is now.
When I consider that the Gloucester Road post office was shut a while ago, the writing is now clearly on the wall for another of our town's post offices. Surely, it is not too late to persuade Tesco to keep the post office?
Please think of the post office counter at Brook Road, and remember to use it or risk that we lose it!
