VOLUNTEERS aiming to build a £260,000 nature centre in Trowbridge are getting closer to their goal.
Fundraising efforts for the Hope Nature Centre are continuing apace, with the Kentwood Choir putting on a charity bash for the project on April 30.
Tickets for the Civic Hall event are selling fast, but more support is needed.
The Swindon-based choir helped out with fundraising last year.
Planning permission for a centre and nature trail has already been given for a 15-acre site at Southwick Country Park.
The centre will provide up to 40 jobs for young adults with learning difficulties.
Trowbridge primary schools are backing the project while prisoners at Erlestoke have built a rabbit village to go in the finished centre.
Project leader June Fleming said: "Things are moving forward very nicely and we are hoping for some good news soon.
"These are very exciting times. It has been a long slog but we are definitely getting there.
"It is a much needed facility."
