THE amazing fishing from Wick Green at Chew Valley Lake continues for boat and bank anglers.

Although Chew was stocked at the Sailing Club and Nunnery, many of the newly stocked fish turned up at Wick Green within a couple of days.

Last week many limit bags were taken at Chew and although the fish stocked were smaller than the initial planting the quality and size of fish continues.

There have been huge hatches of black buzzers most days and these have encouraged fish nearer to the surface with some fish actually being taken on dries and emergers. Most anglers are using floating or intermediate lines with long leaders and teams of nymphs and buzzers fished slowly.

Plenty of fish are still being caught at Blagdon in the Ash Trees, Pegs Point and Wood Bay triangle. Most boats are still fishing fairly deep with nymphs and goldheads but there are more fish starting to move nearer to the surface as the water continues to warm.

The recent stocking at the Barrows has improved sport but many anglers are still finding that they need to fish deep to catch consistently.

The good sport on the Wessex Water trout fisheries continued last week with both boat and bank anglers doing well.

At Clatworthy 515 fish were taken last week and at Hawkridge 445 fish were recorded.

Sutton Bingham is still fishing well with 537 fish last week. A long journey from Cornwall by one angler rewarded him with a magnificent 11lb 14oz brown trout. Best bag of the week was a limit weighing 21lb 8oz .
