Ref. 30071-48BOND Girl Maryam d'Abo glitzed into town yesterday to sign autographs for dozens of adoring fans.
The star, who appeared alongside Timothy Dalton in the 1987 classic The Living Daylights visited memorabilia store, Infinitely Better, where she chatted with Bond fans young and old.
Maryam, who played the seductive musician Kara Milovy, conceded the film was not as popular as the others, but nonetheless made a big impact on the movie scene.
"Bond was going through an experimental stage at the time and I think some fans were slightly disappointed because there weren't as many gadgets in it," she said.
"Before this film many of the Bond Girls were cartoon-type characters and you never really got to know them.
"Kara was feminine but she had a heart. I guess the series just grew up from this point on, but it has never lost its appeal or humour when it does, that will be the end of Bond."
Francesca Spencer, nine, of Old Shaw Lane, couldn't wait to greet the star although she admitted her favourite film was Live and Let Die.
She said: "It had everything in it and I really liked the stunts and the acting."
Big brother James, 14, agreed that Live and Let Die ranks highly, but he gave top marks to 1983 film Octopussy starring Roger Moore.
The teenager said: "It was a great film, although my favourite Bond actor was Sean Connery. He had the voice and the whole manner."
Fellow Bond Girl Valerie Leon, who appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me and Never Say Never Again will be the next in a long line of actresses to appear at the store on Thursday
