SAMMY IGOE was facing a late fitness test this morning to determine whether a back injury would scupper his chances of facing Oldham Athletic.
The midfielder has been suffering most of the week after jarring a nerve in training and is desperate not to miss out on a potential play-off clinching party.
He feels it is yet another of the 'silly' injuries which have plagued him this year.
The 28-year-old said: "We were taking penalties at the end of Monday's session and it was literally with my last kick that I jarred my back.
"Physio Dick Mackey gave me a bit of treatment before telling me to go home and rest. I've had all sorts of trouble and couldn't move for a couple of days.
"It's easing off a bit now but it's still not right.
"We'll see how I am ahead of the game. It's annoying as it's another silly injury, like when I did my wrist, and I don't want to be missing games at a crucial stage of the season."
While Igoe watched but didn't take part in yesterday's sun-kissed training session at Wanborough, Rhys Evans was back in action after treatment for a scratched eye.
The Town keeper, who had a precautionary check up after the morning work-out, is looking for a third successive clean sheet today following shut-outs at Luton and Wycombe respectively.
He said: "The eye's a little bit uncomfortable but I'm determined to play."
Whichever 11 players he chooses, manager Andy King is looking to his team to book Town's play-off spot.
He said: "If we're at full throttle then I'm confident we can get a result.
"Oldham have managed a lot of away draws this season which means they're either negative or strong and disciplined.
"Make no mistake, if we're not correct in our approach we could get beaten.
"I think Paul Murray is a threat for them as is David Eyres, who's 40 years of age.
"He has great ability, gets about the pitch and creates things. Without doubt he is their best player.
"Let's not forget the boy Calvin Zola, who showed what he could do when we played up at Oldham."
Whatever the potential threat posed by the opposition, King knows his own players are up for the challenge.
He said: "I will be making decisions for the Oldham game which will make statements.
"Certain players won't be playing and will be sitting on the bench.
"So everyone's playing for their place and possibly a place for the play-off challenge. Everyone's up for it."
Town's play-off place will be guaranteed if seventh-placed Port Vale fail to win at relegation-haunted Notts County. The Magpies must win the Meadow Lane clash if they are to have any hope of avoiding relegation.
Tickets are now on sale for Town's final scheduled game of the season against Hartlepool United on May 8.
