HUNDREDS of youngsters celebrated St George's Day by catching a glimpse of the Rugby World Cup in Cirencester yesterday.
As part of the nationwide Sweet Chariot Tour, the William Webb Ellis Cup stopped off at Kingshill School. And as in Swindon on Easter Saturday, England's glorious World Cup victory was recalled as youngsters from Cirencester Rugby Club and local schools flocked to see the trophy.
Besides the cup visit, there were also two rugby festivals, involving 12 primary school teams and six secondary schools representing the Cotswold District Council area.
Cirencester's rugby club, meanwhile, left immediately after for a record-breaking two-day tour of Devon.
In total, three coachloads of youngsters, coaches and officials travelled south, to play Bideford, Torrington and South Molton today, and Barnstaple tomorrow.
