MIDWEEK matches have brought joy to two local football clubs.

In the North Wilts & District Youth and Minors League, Westbrook were crowned champions in the Under 14 Division One when two goals from Hobbs secured a 2-1 victory over Fairford, whose goal was scored by Lander.

In the North Berks League, Kintbury won the Division One title after beating Drayton 3-2.

In the Wiltshire League, Blunsdon United played on consecutive nights, beating Wroughton Reserves 4-2 and Aldbourne Reserves 6-3.

Ferndale Rodbourne's run of victories came to an end when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Down Ampney, who led 2-0 after 10 minutes.

Ferndale levelled with two goals in the last 10 minutes through Terry Brown and Terry Offer.

Trowbridge Town Reserves edged closer to the Junior Division One title with a 4-0 win over Wootton Bassett United, while the senior side were held to a 0-0 draw by Melksham Reserves, the point cutting AFC Stratton's lead at the top to just three points.

The final of the Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup will be between East Hendred and Saxton Rovers, the first all-North Berks final since 1987.

In the semi-finals Hendred beat AFC Stratton 4-2 on penalties after the teams drew 1-1, and Saxton beat hosts Faringdon Town 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

The final is at Tucker Park, Faringdon, on Thursday, May 6 (6.30pm).
