Ref. 30083-2SWINDON'S Health Hydro on Milton Road has been given a new look with two brightly coloured murals.
Called Citrus Delight and Terracotta Sunrise, they are both based on an Eastern Mediterranean theme and have been used to cover up old windows in two of the Turkish bath rooms.
Manager Dave Smith commissioned illustrator Jane Sullivan to come up with the two murals.
He said: "The team at the Health Hydro decided that the area was very dull, since the walls had been stripped of paint.
"The only thing on view were glazed bricks, so it was suggested that murals would help to improve the look. It has taken a lot of hard work, but we are all thrilled with the results."
Jane said: "I drew on impressions gained while working in Turkey to generate an Eastern Mediterranean atmosphere with objects and plants framed in mosaic borders."
Citrus Delight shows lemons and clementine trees set against a rustic building and a sun-lounger. It is inside a blue and purple mosaic, while Terracotta Sunrise was created to compliment the former the colours are similar, but the images are more floral.
Meanwhile, Swindon art group No Added Sugar helped youngsters at Covingham Park Junior School design and paint a colourful mural at Sanford House, Swindon Council's education department.
The jungle mural was created by the school's art group with help from Toni Robinson and Gordon Dickinson and runs along the staircase. Headteacher Colin Green said: "I am delighted with the project. Toni and Gordon of No Added Sugar inspired staff and pupils alike to produce outstanding work."
