After last Sunday's washout, the sun finally shone on the North Wilts & District League with a wonderful day of cup finals at the County Ground, writes STUART SMEDLEY.
And to cap off a tremendous day, Stratton Juniors gave the league a clean sweep in Wiltshire FA competitions by lifting the county under 15 cup.
In the league's own finals there were a series of cracking matches played on the hallowed turf at Swindon Town.
Fixtures and Cups Secretary Mark Smedley said: "It went really well and the children really seemed to rise to the occasion.
"We cannot thank Swindon Town enough for giving the children the opportunity to play on the County Ground pitch, I am sure this is something they will remember for a long, long time.
"I would also like to thank all those who helped to make it such a successful day, including all the officials."
Two goals from Jack Brain secured Wootton Bassett Town a 3-1 victory over Ashton Keynes to lift the Evening Advertiser-sponsored under nine cup.
Michael Simpson had given Ashton Keynes the lead against the run of play, but Josh Shama equalised after 16 minutes when he connected with a Brain corner.
After the break, Brain gave Bassett the lead when his long-range shot thundered in off an upright.
Brain sealed victory four minutes from time when he blasted a free-kick under the crossbar and into the net.
A stunning hat-trick from Joe Chapman secured Highworth Juniors the league and cup double as they beat Stratton Juniors 3-1 in the Evening Advertiser Under 10 final.
All the goals came in an enthralling second half as Stratton wilted in the sweltering heat.
It wasn't until the 22nd minute of the second period that Highworth took the lead through Chapman.
Stratton keeper Andrew Peedle made some great saves but Chapman beat him again three minutes from time when his 20-yarder left the Stratton shot-stopper with no chance.
Chapman completed his treble two minutes later with a fine solo effort before Ben Mapson ensured Stratton didn't go home goalless in stoppage time.
Highworth manager Danny Groom is now preparing for next season's 11-a-side matches and is looking to recruit new players. Anyone interested should contact him on 01793 872648 (evenings).
Dominic Rekowski grabbed a golden goal two minutes into the second period of extra time in an intense encounter which saw treble-winning Shaw defeat Stratton Juniors to lift the Under 11 cup.
Stratton took the lead in the 14th minute when Nathan Richens struck past Shaw keeper Jack Wilkinson but Rekowski levelled things up on the stroke of half-time.
The teams remained deadlocked until Rekowski's extra-time strike sealed the trophy to go alongside the league and County Cup titles already claimed this term.
In the same week that they won the league, Westbrook completed the double after beating Wroughton 2-1 in the under 14 showpiece.
Matt Hobbs opened the scoring in the ninth minute when he flicked in a Josh Digby throw.
Digby sealed the contest with 12 minutes remaining when he beat keeper James Moore from a Sean Bailey ball.
A fine display by Shaw A saw off under 16 final opponents Liden in a 5-1 demolition.
Shaw dominated the early proceedings and took the lead through Richard Bodman in the 17th minute when he poked the ball past Devan Bryan in goal for Liden.
Craig Dixon doubled the lead 16 minutes later but Liden halved the deficit in the 40th minute when Leigh Brown headed home.
It was one-way traffic in the second half as King slid in the first of his pair 11 minutes after the restart.
Eight minutes later King placed the ball coolly into the back of the net, and Dixon finished the rout in injury time when he caught Bryan well off his line.
