Ref. 30098-08PEOPLE taking a stroll in the Old Town Gardens were treated to a display of Tai Chi over the weekend.
Graham Pritchard, 44, from Gorse Hill, organised the demonstration to celebrate World Tai Chi Day.
The former playgroup leader has been practising the discipline for 13 years and is now a professional Tai Chi teacher.
He said: "I used to do Kung Fu but became more interested in the internal side of martial arts. Tai Chi is more about meditation."
About 30 people joined in the demonstration session and many more watched the event.
Dale Colsell, 33, from Eldene, started attending Tai Chi classes three months ago and is pleased with the results.
He said: "It worked wonders for my general well-being. I feel far more relaxed. It has given me a whole new perspective on life."
Children also took part in the Chinese martial art.
Rachel Fertnig, nine, from Toothill, said: "It is very interesting and certainly different to my favourite sport, ice skating. But I'm good with my arms so I like the look of this."
Vicky James, 33, from Old Town said: "It looks calming. I think it is a great idea to show people what it's all about."
Graham takes Tai Chi classes at the Health Hydro, in Milton Road. For details call 07855 977904.
