POLICE in Amesbury are anxious to trace the occupants of a Land Rover, who are suspected of having broken into a vehicle in Shrewton last Friday.
The owner of a Range Rover, parked in Salisbury Road, went to the vehicle at 6.45am, to find the driver's-side boot window had been smashed.
The thieves had reached inside and taken a number of items.
Missing were a green Barbour coat, a Tag Heuer watch, which had a broken silver and gold strap, 400 cigarettes and a laptop computer, together worth £2,500.
Police have been told that a two-tone, old-style, long-wheelbase Land Rover was seen leaving the area at speed at the time of the break-in.
The Land Rover had a dark top half, possibly red, and a light coloured bottom half, possibly white.
Anyone who witnessed the theft or who has information about it is asked to contact PC John Punter, at Amesbury police station, on 01980 623822.
Police have again advised car owners not to leave valuable items in their vehicles.
