SONS and daughters of Motorola's Swindon employees have spent a day at their parents' workplace finding out what they get up to every day.
More than 30 children aged between 11 and 15 spent the morning touring the Groundwell offices, watching demonstrations of Motorola's 3G phones and making video calls to each other. They were also given a talk about what Motorola does, along with a telecoms tutorial by Motorola experts.
Over lunch they had a quiz to see how much they had learned, with prizes going to the winning team.
During the afternoon, the children were given design-and-build challenges and visited the environmental labs, where they saw a banana and an egg frozen in such a way that they could be used to hammer a nail into a piece of wood.
Michael Krutz, vice president and general manager of Motorola GSM systems division, said: "This type of event is very important for both Motorola and the children of our employees. The sons and daughters get a real taste of the work their mums and dads do, in a very interactive and entertaining environment.
"We hope that this will leave a lasting impression that will make these young people very effective employees when they enter the workplace."
