FANS of cult 1980s television series Robin Of Sherwood will be massing in a Swindon hotel this summer to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their favourite show.
Robin of Sherwood has been described as the definitive interpretation of the Robin Hood myth.
Among its stars were Michael Praed and Jason Connery who played Robin in different seasons of the series plus Clive Mantle as Little John and Ray Winstone as Will Scarlet.
The Robin of Sherwood Legend 2004 convention will be held at the Hilton Hotel from August 27 to 29
The convention will be attended by some of the cast of the show, including Phil Rose, who played Friar Tuck, and Nickolas Grace, who played the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Organisers are asking for help in finding a sword that featured in one episode of the show.
In The Swords of Wayland, seven special swords were brought together by a band of devil worshippers.
When the series ended in 1987 the swords, which had been carefully decorated and named, were split up and ended up in different hands.
The main sword, Albion, was given to the Robin Hood Experience in Nottingham.
Five others were distributed at a fan convention in 1998, leaving the whereabouts of the seventh Beleth unknown.
"If anyone working on the series knows anything about the sword they can contact us, and if anyone has any other memorabilia they would like to send or bring to the convention we would be very pleased to hear from them," said Sue Matthews, one of the convention's organisers.
Anyone with any information about the Beleth sword can email roslegend@ntlworld.com
Tickets for the convention are priced £65 and include the price of a range of Sherwood-themed activities, including guest panels, a location trip, quiz, medieval banquet, buffet and disco. Further details are available at www.roslegend.co.uk
