GAZETTE & HERALD: A CORSHAM woman was so nervous about seeing a doctor at Green Lane mental health unit in Devizes that she got drunk and then tried to drive home.
Wendy Gething, 44, of Park Lane, pleaded guilty before Kennet magistrates in Devizes on Tuesday to being over the legal drink/drive limit when she was stopped by police on Bath Road shortly before 5pm on April 12.
Anna Humphreys, prosecuting, told the court that police officers had received a radio message warning them that a red Peugeot 106 was being driven erratically around the town.
Mrs Gething was stopped and her breath was later found to have 59 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 35.
Gething was banned from driving for 17 months, although the length of the ban will be reduced to 13 months if she completes a drink-driver's rehabilitation course.
She was also fined £480 with £34 costs.
