Developers of the site in Malmesbury where Amanda Edwards' body was found have decided a memorial on the site is not appropriate.

Chase Homes chairman Chris Kent said: "We have written to Amanda's family. There will be no memorial on the Knoll site.

"We are in negotiation with the family to put something at the Little Foxes Nursery somewhere she liked and was loved and was close to her heart."

Chase Homes had to stop work for a week on the 14 luxury houses being built at the former hotel when the site became the focal point in the police hunt for Miss Edwards.

Mr Kent said: "The police have now finished their investigation and we are carrying on with the construction programme.

"All the people who have made reservations on the site are more than happy to continue.

"In the last two weeks we have been talking with someone else who is interested in buying a home.

"Out of the 14 houses on the site six have been reserved. The two to five bedroom homes range in price from £220,000 to over £600,000."
