LAST year's Under 11 winners Chippenham got off to a winning start with a 74-run win at Biddestone.

Batting first, Chippenham posted 99-4 in their 20 overs with Uzi Qureshi (31) and Andrew Edwards (21) leading the way.

In reply Biddestone struggled against the accurate bowing of Brad Dawson (2 -2), Joshua Bull (2-1), and Andrew Edwards (2-0) and finished on 55-9 with Liam Boulton top scoring (Biddestone 2 points, Chippenham 16).

Swindon, who have entered an Under 11 side for the first time, got off to a winning start with a five wicket victory at home to Wootton Bassett.

For Bassett only Ravi Samant had any answer to the bowling of Will Holmes (five wickets for just six runs) and Lee Baden (3-2 in 4 overs).

Samant scored ten of Bassett's eleven runs off the bat but 33 extras took their total to 44 all out.

In reply, a steady partnership between Jonathan Sore (9) and George Penfold (9) helped Swindon reach their target with five overs in hand (Swindon 18 points, Wootton Bassett two points).

Shrivenham have also joined the Under 11 league this season and their first game was away to Cannings.

Batting first, Shrivenham's innings of 54-7 was built around a fine knock of 27 not out from William Snell.

Tom Schneider was the pick of the Cannings' bowlers taking 4-4 in just two overs.

Opener Owen Alsop led the Cannings' reply but with wickets falling at the other end the result was in doubt right to the end.

Cannings eventually won off the final ball of the innings by four wickets with Alsop undefeated on 34. Scott Winskill was the leading Shrivenham bowler with 2-3 in three overs (Cannings 14 points, Shrivenham four points).

At Calne, visitors Malmesbury scored an impressive 110-2 in their 20 overs thanks to Robert Gillespie (29) and Tom Dally (38 not out). Craig Edwards took 2-8 for Calne.

Stewart Windsor made a defiant 30 for Calne but the other batting struggled against the bowling of Gillespie (3-8), Ben Dickinson (2-6) and Dally (2-17).

Calne finished on 66-8 to leave Malmesbury winners by 44 runs (Calne 2 points, Malmesbury 17 points).

The only game in the Under 15 division saw Malmesbury travel to Cannings.

Malmesbury batted first and found runs hard to come by against the bowling of Guy Perritt (4 24 in 7.5 overs), Paul Williamson (2-18 in 7 overs) and Mehdi Ibrahim ( 1-12 in 9 overs).

Gareth Shellard (16) top scored for Malmesbury but the away side could only muster 99 before being bowled out in the 44th over.

Perritt (22) and Ibrahim (32) took Cannings well on their way and they reached their target in just 24 overs for the loss of four wickets (Cannings 19 points, Malmesbury three points).
