THE scale of public disorder problems that face Devizes police officers every weekend will be seen by viewers throughout the country.
A camera team from the TV show Street Crime UK, which goes out on the satellite channel Bravo UK, followed Devizes officers on the beat at the weekend.
They accompanied PC Chris Maundrell, WPC Emily Wilson and other members of the Devizes police squad as they patrolled the town last Friday and Saturday night.
The programme is being put together by The Lab, a production company owned by Granada Media.
This is their first visit to Devizes, although they have done similar programmes featuring Warminster, Swindon, Trowbridge and Chippenham. Chippenham will feature on an episode of Crime Fighters UK, another series produced by The Lab, which is due to go out on ITV1 in three weeks' time.
But is there enough action in a small market town like Devizes to produce an entertaining half hour on prime time TV?
Fred Hepburn, managing director of The Lab, said: "Devizes is not exactly known as a crime hot spot but the sort of disorder that happens at pub closing time happens everywhere."
