A MAY Ball is taking place in the town hall in Marlborough on Saturday to help raise funds for a new classroom at St Katharine's School in Savernake Forest.
The school is a victim of a its own success and the prospect of new homes being built in its catchment area generating further demand for places.
Four years ago parents and friends of the school raised £50,000 towards an extension which cost £100,000 and was grant aided by a Government Seed Challenge Fund donation.
The traditionally built brick and slate extension provided two new classrooms and released the original Victorian school hall to be used for assemblies and lunches.
Now the school has set out on the fund raising trail again.
The school roll is continuing to grow and from September it will have 60 pupils.
There are 38 new homes proposed for a new development at Savernake Hospital which will be started when the new hospital is completed.
So the parents, governors and friends of St Katharine's have embarked again on the fund raising trail.
There are still a few tickets costing £25 available for the May Ball taking place in Marlborough on Saturday and available from Kate Twisk (01672) 515832. The ball will feature an auction of promises.
