12848/2WHEN craftsman Dick Miles had some time on his hands he knew just how to fill it making a replica of Marlborough's jubilee clock.
The wrought iron timepiece was erected to commemorate the town's celebrations for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002.
Mr Miles, 68, of Stonebridge Close, a retired upholsterer and carpet fitter, is a talented woodworker and woodturner. He is always on the lookout for unusual things to make.
He said: "I was looking at the clock and thought it would be a challenge."
Mr Miles was able to turn the clock body and the main column but then had to fashion the square base, carve four lion heads to go on the base and a crown to go on the top. He painted the wooden clock black and decorated it with gold leaf.
He said: "I could not count the hours I put into it but it was a challenge and I am very pleased with it."
