12845/1PATRIOTIC pints pulled during a mini beer festival held on St George's Day at the Inn With The Well in Ogbourne St George all had names likened to the saint's day.
The beer festival on Friday also ceremoniously marked the change of name of the pub from the Old Crown to the Inn With the Well.
Licensees Mike and Megan Shaw decided to celebrate the last day of the pub under its old name with a beer festival.
Patriotically because it's St George's Day and because the village is Ogbourne St George the names of all seven guest beers had an English connection.
The real ales on tap at the pub were Winston Church Ale from Arundel Brewery in West Sussex; St George's Heritage Ale from Coach House Brewery in Warrington; Tale of the Dragon from Hampshire Brewery in Romsey; George's Best from Mauldon's of Suffolk; Dragonhead stout from Orkney; Bombardier from Wells Brewery at Bedford and St George's bitter from Wye Valley Brewery in Herefordshire.
Mr and Mrs Shaw have run the popular village pub for 13 years. Mr Shaw said: "We are changing the name partly because there are so many pubs called the Crown in this area."
Over the years, since the discovery of a well under the restaurant floor during alterations in 1975, the Crown at Ogbourne St George had become equally well know as the inn with the well which is what it will be officially known as from now on.
