POLICE in Marlborough have this week welcomed the news that drug pusher Luke Mildenhall from Ramsbury has been jailed.

Mildenhall, 21, of Whitehill Close in Ramsbury appeared at Salisbury Crown Court last Friday.

He admitted possessing Class A (cocaine) and Class B (cannabis) drugs with intent to supply and possessing a Class A drug for his own use.

He was jailed for 15 months and six months on the charges of possessing drugs with intent to supply and one month for possessing drugs for his own consumption. All the sentences are to be served concurrently.

Marlborough sub-divisional police commander Insp Bill Dowling said Mildenhall had been arrested as a result of officers' surveillance.

Insp Dowling said: "He was targeted as being quite a large player in the supply of drugs in the Marlborough area.

"This was a local operation by local officers to target a local problem.

"I hope this sends out a message to anyone else thinking of doing the same.

"Having successfully targeted one dealer we are actively looking at others and we confident that further arrests will follow."

Insp Dowling said anyone with any information that could help police with their investigations was welcome to speak to his officers at Marlborough police station (01672) 512311.

He had a note of reassurance, however, for anyone thinking that Marlborough had a particularly bad drugs problem.

Insp Dowling said: "It's no better or worse than in any other town of this size.

"We will not be complacent and accept any level of drug dealing or consumption and my officers know who the other dealers are."
