12834/1CUSTOMERS at the former Old Crown in Ogbourne St George are having to get used to its new name, the Inn with the Well.
The last day of the pub under its old name was marked on Friday when licensees Megan and Mike Shaw held a beer festival.
Patriotically because it was St George's Day and because the village is Ogbourne St George, the names of all seven guest beers had an English connection.
Mr and Mrs Shaw, who have run the popular village pub for 13 years, believe it is time the name was changed to something less common and something more appropriate.
Over the years, since the discovery of a well under the restaurant floor in 1975 during alterations, the pub has become equally well known as the Inn with the Well.
