CHIPPENHAM'S Under 10 squad, The Sharks, enjoyed an excellent day at The Rec on Sunday when they took part in the Bath Mini Festival.
The Sharks were drawn in a group which included teams from Bath 'B', Havant and Redruth.
Sharks 5 Havant 10
THIS proved to be a challenging opening game for The Sharks. Havant went over for two tries and it looked like the score would remain at 10-0. But Chippenham's Michael Allies scored just as the final whistle was blown.
Sharks 25 Redruth 0
THIS game was an excellent performance from The Sharks with tries coming from Michael Allies, Luke Gorman and Bas Parfitt with one apiece and Hal Bailey grabbing a brace.
Sharks 5 Bath B 0
ANOTHER great game for both teams with scrum after scrum. Michael Allies scored the only try of the game with the rest of play centered around the scrums. These results put Chippenham's Under 10s as runners -up in the table behind Havant. As runners-up of Table B, The Sharks played the winners of Table A which was Winchester, in the semi-finals.
Sharks 0 Winchester 30
THIS was a disappointing result for the team who came up against a very determined Winchester side. Although The Sharks missed the opportunity of playing on the Bath 1st team pitch, players and families thoroughly enjoyed their day at The Rec.
Chippenham U8s
FOLLOWING on from their recent runners-up final position at the recent Chippenham Mini Festival, Chippenham's Under 8s went one better at the Bath Mini Festival on Sunday. Running out as joint winners of the Under 8 age group, Chippenham remained undefeated all day.
In the pool games, Chippenham beat Bath 'B' 5-3 and then went on to beat Avon 6-3. They then drew their match against Havant 4-4.
These results saw the U8s progress to the semi-final stage where they faced Bath 'A'. This was drawn at 4-4 but Chippenham went through to the final because of their superior try count in the pool stage.
The final which was against Havant took place on the Bath 1st team pitch. In a highly competitive final, Chippenham drew again 4-4 and both teams were declared the winners.
Captain Ellie Tullberg received the winners cup from former Bath and England international Jon Hall.
