GAZETTE & HERALD: Golf enthusiasts Harvey and Peggy Griffin had a golden wedding anniversary celebration with a difference, when they organised an 18-hole competition for friends and family.
Mr Griffin, 70, and Mrs Griffin, 69, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 5, and took around 40 people to Chippenham Golf Course on April 9 for the contest.
The couple, who live in Hardenhuish Avenue in Chippenham, asked for donations in lieu of anniversary gifts and raised £300 for Dorothy House. They met while at Chippenham Secondary Modern school and were teenage sweethearts.
They married in Corsham, where Mrs Griffin grew up, and Mr Griffin spent his working life at Westinghouse, working in the Signals department.
The couple have two children, Keith and Lynda, and three grandchildren.
They have been members of Chippenham Golf Club for 40 years. Mrs Griffin has twice been ladies captain.
