ANDY Robertson had almost become the forgotten man at Hardenhuish, but after his first team recall last week the Chippenham defender insisted he had never become disillusioned.
The former Southampton Academy player had been a virtual spectator since the turn of the year until he was recalled for the Wiltshire Premier Shield Victory over Swindon nearly two weeks ago.
He kept his place for the league victory against Moor Green on Saturday and has been a revelation at the heart of the defence alongside Simon Charity.
Robertson is expected to start in tomorrow's must-win match at Hinckley and he holds no grudges to being left out of the squad for the last few months.
He said: "It is a team thing and a squad thing at the end of the day and everyone plays their part.
"We know that if you are playing well then you keep your shirt and that is the way it should be. Players were playing well so it was hard for me to work my way into the team.
"I never thought my season was over because I know football is a funny game. With injuries and suspensions always possible I knew I had to keep myself ticking over and just wait for my chance."
"We are very much a squad here with 18 or 19 players and we are all very much together."
Chippenham know a win tomorrow and a defeat for two of the three teams above them will give them a play-off place for the new Conference league next season.
"Saturday's win has kept the season ticking over," said Robertson. "We have to go there and win and then hope others slip up.
"If we get in we know the play-off match will be two days later but we won't that, we would play the same day if it meant getting promoted."
