THE property company responsible for developing the five-acre Kingston Mill site in Bradford on Avon has scooped an industry award for house building in a national magazine.

Building magazine named Taylor Woodrow, which bought the town centre site five years ago, the Major Housebuilder of the Year 2004.

The award marks the company's emergence as one of the UK's largest national housebuilders through its Bryant Homes brand.

It builds more than 10,000 new homes each year at 195 developments all over the country.

Three plans submitted for the Kingston Mills site in recent years were all withdrawn and the company will now take part in a two-day workshop with other representatives from Bradford in June to determine a way forward for the former Avon Rubber factory site.

Representatives from the Prince's Foundation will chair the workshop and residents are invited to submit their ideas and opinions about the redevelopment of the site for a public exhibition on May 27.

Between now and May 7 anyone who wants to submit a 'position paper' on what they would like to see included on the site can collect forms from Bradford Town Council offices or the town library.

The Prince's Foundation has said resident's views will be taken into account as part of the planning process for the site.
