PENSIONERS are calling on the public to help raise funds for a day care centre.
The Grassacres Day Centre, in Eden Vale Road, Westbury, needs to raise a further £2,000 as part of a renovation project.
The centre holds three daily clubs and serves over 150 elderly people every week.
Daphne Lyons, secretary, said: "For many elderly people Grassacres is the one chance they get to meet friends and socialise.
"But we need money to pay for brand new chairs and tables as the ones we have are completely run down.
"We also have to wash up to 700 items every day and that takes a lot of hard work by our willing volunteers and it would be so helpful to afford a proper dishwasher."
Plans are also underway to build a garden with disabled access.
Volunteers are holding a May Fair on May 22 at the day centre with a raffle and treasure hunt. Tickets will be on sale outside Cooper Country Market, Westbury.
