WEST Wiltshire District Council is 30 years old this month and councillors and staff celebrated the occasion on Wednesday.
Former chairmen joined in the party and tucked into a cake produced to mark the milestone in the council's history.
West Wiltshire District Council was established in 1974, following local government reorganisation.
It was created from the former urban districts of Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury, along with two former rural districts of Bradford on Avon and Melksham and Warminster and Westbury.
Chairmen from the 1970s attended the birthday celebrations, led by current chairman, Cllr Marion Clegg and council leader Cllr Tony Phillips.
Cllr Clegg said: "A great deal of progress has been made since the council was formed and this is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past, the successes of the present and our hopes for the future."
