As a member of Westbury Rugby Club. I found it of great embarrassment that we had to hire a pitch from Frome RFC to play a match last week.

The rugby pitch at Leighton sports can only be used for part of the rugby season. We then are forced to ask the use of other local rugby clubs' pitches.

Surly this is not only an embarrassment for Westbury RFC, but it makes Westbury yet again a joke with other towns in the area.

Many players from Westbury RFC are proud to represent Westbury and have worked hard to raise the profile of the club.

In the past we have raised junior rugby teams with some success, but unless the sports facilities are improved then there is little hope for growth of the junior section.

The Persimmon land swap does give Westbury a chance to improve sports facilities not only of sports clubs, but Matravers school, remember healthy body, healthy mind.

May I suggest some of the complainers contact the local sports club and go on a fact-finding tour when they see at first hand the problems faced by the clubs and school then they might understand the problems with the current facilities.

If some of the objectors have a better scheme in mind then please tell us?

Westbury.
